5 Items You Need To Build a Better Wardrobe for Spring

A boy has to be prepared for all of those days walking through Central Park and drinking a pressed juice in the East Village, right? Right! And a boy also needs to do said walking and juicing in style, correct? Obviously, which is precisely why I have compiled a little list of 5 items every guy should inject his wardrobe with right now to round out his Spring wardrobe.

1. THE NEUTRAL PIECE
GQ may have listed camel (king of neutral) as a Fall 2010 must have, but I firmly believe it carries on into Spring. Not only will it mesh with just about everything already in your closet, neutral’s never go out of style. With it being popular right now, there is a plethora of options at every price point. so now just might be the time to invest in some pieces you can wear years down the road.
This Allsaints Mikkeli crew neck sweater in ecru ($125) works on so many levels. Own it in the office with a button down underneath and trousers or opt to wear the sweater with a pair of medium to dark denim. With either combination, you’ll be on point.

2. THE DENIM REPLACEMENT
When it comes to denim, I say the darker the better. I love me some indigo and black! But sometimes I cheat on my beloved jeans with a trouser. We all know that you can dress up denim, but it’s just as fun to dress down a pair of trousers while still maintaining a pulled together look.
21Men‘s classic woven pant ($29.90) is the perfect option. They resemble denim but, well, are not! Feel free to wear these 1% spandex straight legger’s with a graphic tee, light jacket and sneakers or a button down with lace up shoes from Spring.
Read on after the jump for the final three pieces every guy needs for Spring!

3. THE PLAID TIE
I am thoroughly sick of seeing nothing but plaid shirts everywhere. When will this tripster (trendy + hipster) trend ride its bike off the Brooklyn bridge? The plaid tie, best in a madras print, gets a pass as it is still cool. Uniqlo has options for just $12.90 but for those who can’t dash down to their Soho store, check out the more accessible Urban Outfitters.
Their madras plaid tie ($24) comes in taupe and gold. At such a fair price, it isn’t unreasonable to purchase both.
4. THE WOVEN BELT
Even if your pants stay put because of their slim cut, belts are great accessories that can help pump up any looks appeal. One belt that has made its presence known very strongly this season is the woven belt. I have included two of my favorites which are vastly different from one another, totally on trend and completely woven into my personal wardrobe at this moment.
The first selection comes from American Apparel — hold for gasps and sharp objects being thrown my way. Now, I will continue by stating I can’t stand that most of their things seem to be overpriced and their ads somehow accomplish being vulgar and boring simultaneously. However, I couldn’t help but snatch up the unisex spun poly-web leather belt ($34) which comes in a delicious amount of different colors.
This Fossil  “Myles” dress belt ($25) comes in a rich, cognac color. Despite its slight formality, Myles goes with denim and trousers alike. Being so easily interchangeable, Myles will be auditioning for the next season of Jersey Shore.
5. THE CASUAL SNEAKER
On any given day you can see me wearing either a pair of boots or a dress shoe with a pointed foot that has given me an understanding of how women’s feet kill after donning a pair of heels for X amount of hours. I’ve searched high and low for an affordable yet stylish sneaker that I could wear with just about everything in my wardrobe and have recently come across an incredible selection. These shoes, I tell you, are something fierce! I could go on and on without saying anything but good things. While you are probably already a little annoyed that I’ve yet to name this shoe brand, I will save myself by doing just that! VANS. You read it right. My love of sneakers stays fueled up thanks to Vans but most recently their OTW collection.
The leather/suede Larkin ($65) in an elephant gray easily steps into your shoe rotation with its casual but sophistacted look. And gray matches up with everything from black to khaki. Would ya look at that? I just solved your shoe searching problem in 60 seconds! Happy shopping and let me know what you decide on for Spring!
