Last week, I gave you a listen to the TOKiMONSTA remix of Hundred Waters' "Thistle" and this week I'm giving you more. Hundred Waters dropped the Thistle EP earlier this week via OWSLA, a pretty dope record label owned by Grammy winner Skrillex, Tim Smith, Kathyrn Frazier and Clayton Blaha.
You want the verdict? I am flipping' obsessed. When the aforementioned remix was passed my way, I almost clicked out of that window but something kinda weird caught my attention and it was like I was lured back in just like a fat kid walking by a table covered in boxes of Artichoke Pizza. You don't know about Artichoke? Get your life.
The AraabMuzik remix is a complete reworking of the track, leaving it almost unrecognizable. It's so good that I don't even care. It's leaving me dancing in my little Ikea chair which is probably waking up my roommate downstairs. Being sandwiched in the middle of the tracklisting, and also being the shortest track on the EP, the AraabMuzik edit is like a welcomed break after a marathon session of…watching Mad Men.
These remixers kill it. It's really inappropriate. It is rare when I hear a remix and think "Now, that should have been the version they released." However, the Thistle EP comes full of top notch interpretations all equally worthy of a shout out.
Hundred Waters will be dropping their forthcoming S/T debut album in October. So, what do you say? Are you feeling the Thistle EP?
