The Affordable List is all about denim this month! That’s right, folks! Denim. Please don’t start whining about wearing it in this crazy heat because even if it were 150 degrees, dissing denim would still be seen as unpatriotic. Yes! It is balls-to-the-wall hot outside but the great thing about these selections is that they’re made of cotton which breathes.
Now, this doesn’t mean you have to step out of your apartment sporting a Canadian suit but it does mean you can embrace the essence of denim somewhere in your outfit even as the temperature continues to rise. You have to wear clothes so you may as well just get on with it.
Obviously, the easiest way to do denim is on your butt (we’ll get to that in just a moment) but it’s finally and fully acceptable to toss a denim shirt on your back just as easily as Anna Wintour throws fur on hers. The only difference is you’ll walk away looking stylish without the fear of PETA ruining your ensemble and ego.
- 21 Men’s Distressed Denim Shirt ($26.90)
- Sierra Trading Post’s Denim Shirt ($18.71)
- ASOS’ Distressed Denim Over Shirt ($28.17)
Give me a boot cut jean any day and I’ll be on my merry way. Button-fly or zipper? Doesn’t matter to me! With the right pair, you can channel an awesome 70′s vibe but don’t get it twisted. A pair of boot cut’s does not equate to a bell bottom as so many people are quick to assume. And if you’re still stuck on only jiggling into something skinny (it’s time to start branching out, guys!), Gap has you covered.
- Calvin Klein Jeans’ Deep Centre Boot Cut Jeans ($49.95)
- Levi’s 527 Slim Boot Cut Decker Jeans ($48)
- Gap’s 1969 Denim-Washed Garment Dyed Khakis ($59.95)
Any semi-reliable fashion concsious person will tell you that accessories can make or break an outfit. Don’t believe me? Just watch a few reruns of E!’s The Fashion Police and you’ll no doubt hear the show’s panelists speak on how an outfit failed because of poor accessories. Style eventuates with the proper accessories!
Tweet me (@ThatFashionDude) your favorite thing to wear during the summertime! I bet denim will be on a few of your lists.
