Here’s the thing about What To Expect When You’re Expecting: Brooklyn Decker was by far the best thing in this movie but despite this huge fact, she was really just a “Let’s throw in a really hot chick” character that didn’t get much play. But I’m jumping ahead! Let me rewind just a tad.
This past weekend, I ventured out with a lovely man to the theatre to see the star studded flick. I’m not going to lie, I initially only wanted to see it because of Cheryl Cole but then I realized I actually liked a bunch of people who feature in it (ie: Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Chace Crawford, Matthew Morrison and now the smoking Rodrigo Santoro) so I was down to pay the $13 for a ticket.
I was surprised I didn’t like this film more! Over the last few years, I have become quite fond of chick flicks but this one was just middle-of-the-road for me. The acting wasn’t bad, the actors weren’t bad, the plot wasn’t bad, the editing wasn’t bad, the pace wasn’t bad. I could go on and on like this but I think you get my drift. It wasn’t bad but that doesn’t always mean it was good, either. Sure, it administered a few chuckles and yes, I cried. Twice.
Hey! There are some really sad parts in this film so save the judging for some other time, girlfriend. Sadness aside, Brooklyn Decker (yes, you have to say her full name every time) was fantastic and is definitely what you would call a scene stealer. From her rocking six-inch heels while almost full-term to just being all sorts of sassy, this model-turned-actress gave new faith to the term tossed around so much. Could she be the next Cameron Diaz? Was this a passing of the torch?! Whatever. Let’s just take a look at her, shall we?
If you’re in the mood for a fairly light comedy about women on a journey of giving birth, this is a good choice considering. However, if you want a little more action, I’d definitely suggest you go see The Avengers.
I don’t even know how I can give such a suggestion considering I haven’t even seen the record breaking blockbuster yet. However, that was the thought that kept going dancing through my head while watching What To Expect.
At least I’m not the only one who still hasn’t seen it, either! Derek from @GiltSupport wants to see The Avengers as well! Social media movie research date?
Is “date” the wrong word for this?
