Willy Moon for L’Officiel Hommes Paris Winter 2012
At only 23-years-old, Willy Moon wants to be your man and that’s okay but you might have a difficult time on your first date. Why? You see, Willy Moon has a very specific look that calls to mind the 1950’s. His music also pulls from that era while mixing in hints of modern elements. It’s a pretty interesting style because his tracks sound authentic to the era that are being remixed by a current DJ and this is what I’ve decided Willy Moon would talk about on your first date with him.
He might also talk about his editorial spread in the winter issue of L’Officiel Hommes Paris shot by photographer Annemarieke Van Drimmelen. Thanks to stylist Valentine Fillol-Cordier, Willy gets the pleasure of donning pieces from Burberry Prorsum, Roberto Cavalli and Cerruti 1881.
Obviously, you’ll be asking Willy Moon why he just doesn’t go full-on modern with his music but he’ll put one hand up with his eyes closed and a small smirk dancing on his face. “Let’s not make this all about me. What do you do?” he will ask. Just as you start to talk about your typical 9 to 5 job, he’ll politely interrupt you and ask how his hair looks. You’re not a rude person, so you’ll tell him it looks fine.
Just like that, Willy Moon has turned the spotlight back on him and he’s going on about how it’s so hard to find a proper pomade that can achieve the look he’s going for but you’ll let it slide because you’ll think about his dancing which is slightly ridiculous yet enticing. Then you’ll be like “Well, he is in L’Officiel, he’s just performed on Jay Leno and even landed on Vogue UK’s ‘2013 Hot List.” But after the second hour of him talking about smart suits, you’ll raise your hand for the check and wonder if he only wants to be your man so that he can have someone he can run his mouth to about himself. I guess we’ll never know.
